Low tide at 7pm so sailable from 4. The BBC, bless 'em, said the wind would drop. It measured 10-12kts at 4.30 so I pumped up the 16m Boxer after yesterday's underpowered and miserable sesh. As I rigged up I was convinced the wind had picked up so ran back to get the Protoy board. First time self-launching, the lines were a mess so I had to sort that out. Second time launching the kite, and I did a Superman over the SHINGLE beach, leaving some nice scratches and bruises over my lower arms. The 16 was WAY too big. Folding up the kite I got blood on it, but decided to leave it as a reminder to check the wind if it feels like it's picked up!

So an hour or so after starting out I set up the 11m and that felt OK. The wind was really up & down... sometimes it was impossible to walk upwind, othertimes the kite would just fall out of the sky. Mind you, a few times I really thought 'Game Over' but the Sonics relaunched like a good'un.

It was frustrating not to be able to stay upwind... I think it was 50% wind, 50% (lack of) skill. So I ended up down at Normans Bay Village with a long walk of shame, but some of the runs and jumps were pretty cool. Don't feel I learned a lot today though.
